I have decided that I really love being in Chicago. There are always new things to see and do!
But anyone who knows me well would know that my favorite thing of all time is trying new food and Chicago is the perfect place for that! (We have definitely lost track of how many places we have eaten at in Chicago so far.) One fun place we found on Friday is called Bin 36 and is only a few blocks away from Jason's work . We were both really excited about the fact that they have lots of imported cheeses.
We ordered the "French Connections" cheese tray. It consisted of Edel de Cleron, Ossau Iraty, Rondin Papillon, and Blue du Bocage. The cheeses were a little stinky, but really good! I also made the discovery that Blue Cheese is amazing with greeen apples and jam. Who would have thought?
We decided we shouldn't make a whole meal just out of cheese so we also ordered hummus and nachos. Jason and I both surprisingly really like hummus. While we were eating though we realized that we actually had no idea what hummus was made out of. So all of you who have wondered what hummus is like us, we now know that it is mashed chickpeas. Doesn't sound too appetizing, but it really is so good.

Hey guys,
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog. Looks great. Food looks delicious. Chi-town looks fun, maybe we'll come visit. How long will you be there? It's tough to move away from big cities. Take care.

We're here until at least August when my internship ends, but if we find a good job or get an offer we'd love to stay longer.
ReplyDeleteYum! I'm sure Dad will love trying all the new foods you've discovered, but you might have a harder time convincing mom! :) It sounds like you are having fun. We miss you and wish we were coming to visit this weekend. Will misses you too and says hi!
ReplyDeleteWe also ate at a pretty good Italian place right across the street from our apartment. Living so near Little Italy means we eat out way too much.
ReplyDeleteI'm expecting some good food suggestions for whenever I finally make it to Chicago for a research trip.
ReplyDeletecurses .... im so jealous. No one else here is willing to spend money on good food... so i dont get to go much. O the tragedy of being a foodie
